General Care
Rewaxing can prolong the life of your Jacket.
Turn rewaxing into a ritual, not a chore. Our Wax Cotton Jackets are built to last for decades — and with the right care, the material only gets better with age.
A simple rewax keeps the fabric performing at its best while deepening the character that makes every Peregrine Jacket unique.
Our Wax Cotton Jackets are not just outerwear, they are an investment in decades of durability. Treat them well, and they will become a trusted companion for life.
We do not recommend using a washing machine or dry cleaning your jacket.
All of our jackets are made from waxed cotton in order to make them shower-proof and weather resistant. Wax jackets are notoriously difficult to clean so please take care when looking after yours.
Which Wax?
All our Wax Jackets are made using Halley Stevenson's fabrics, so we would recommend using the care products from our trusted supplier on your Peregrine Jacket. These can be purchased on our website.
Dry Wax Cotton
Our dry wax jackets, like our Unisex Cagoules - Woodchester Cagoule & Ford Cagoule, have the same benefits as a classic wax jacket but with a slightly matte finish.
We recommend the Halley Stevenson's Reproofing Spray, which is specifically formulated for Dry Wax Cotton.
Classic Wax Cotton
This Classic Waxed Cotton material is used for our bestselling Bexley Jackets.
We recommend the Halley Stevenson's Classic Wax Tin, which is specifically formulated for Classic Wax Cotton.
Step by Step Guide
Follow our simple step-by-step process, as demonstrated by Ryan from Mallin & Son, to refresh the wax and restore your jacket’s weather-resistant finish.
Choose your Wax
Our Wax Jackets are all made using Halley Stevenson's fabrics, so we would recommend using the care products from our trusted supplier on your Peregrine Jacket.
We recommend Halley Stevenson's Reproofing Wax or for all our Classic Wax Cotton Jackets (Bexley Jacket).
We recommend the Halley Stevenson's Reproofing Spray, which is specifically formulated for Dry Wax Cotton (Cagoules).
Clean your Jacket
Using a sponge or damp cloth, using only water, make sure the Jacket is clear of any dirt or marks before starting the rewaxing process.
Allow to dry completely before moving onto the next step.
Warm the Wax
Next, slightly warm the wax tin (by placing in warm water for a short period) so it melts slightly, making it easier to apply.
Apply the Wax
Using a soft cloth or sponge, apply the wax generously onto the jacket, working in small sections at a time, ensuring it is evenly spread.
Melt the Wax
Melt the wax into the fabric once applied to a section. Use a hairdryer to gently heat each section, allowing the wax to absorb fully. We would advise wearing gloves to protect your hands from the heat. Continue this process until the whole jacket has been worked on.
We recommend paying extra attention to the seams and high-wear areas of the jacket.
Please take extra care when using the hairdryer.
Cool Naturally
Hang up your Jacket and allow to dry overnight or a minimum of 12 hours before wearing for maximum performance.
